The Thomas House is conveniently located, and easy to get to just off I-77 in the metropolitan Columbia area, in Ridgeway, SC. We're about twenty-five minutes from downtown Columbia, thirty minutes from Irmo or Lexington, ten minutes from Blythewood, and an hour from Charlotte, NC.
The Thomas House has numerous historic features! One of the coolest sits in the backyard. When you visit, note the granite carriage step in the rear yard. Also known as a mounting block, or stepping stone, it was most likely mined at the Kinkade Anderson Mine in Farifield County. This granite step was used to assist ladies entering a horse drawn carriage when the home was built.
Built in 1906
by Mr. Robert
Charleton Thomas, The Thomas House was added to the National Historic Register in 1970. The Victorian architecture is a bit unusal for the surrounding puritan area.
